Detroit Tiger’s Miguel Cabrera got hurt on an attempted hit-and-run while breaking for second base. They won that night 8-6 over the Toronto Blue Jay, unfortunately, Cabrera had to go on the disabled list due to a calf injury.


An MRI was done and showed no injury to the Achilles tendon and was later diagnosed with medial calf strain on his left foot.  The median calf muscle comprises the gastrocnemius, a large and strong muscle located at the back part of the lower leg. This muscle is primary involved in fast or quick movement of the legs like jumping and running, hence it is commonly injured in sports or other physical activities.


The two-time AL MVP was placed in a boot. "The boot just raises the heel up so the calf muscle isn't stretched out," "It shortens the calf muscle.” manager Brad Ausmus said.


He was given a PRP injection, a treatment that naturally stimulates the body’s own healing properties for faster and safe healing. PRP or platelet-rich plasma is plasma with high concentrations of platelets. Platelets are special blood cells that are responsible in repairing injured tissue. Also, he has undergone physical therapy and hyperbaric treatment.
